The Xu-Kao plateau is formed where the Da-Han river flow through the south of Jiaoban Mountain, the watercourse mets a big curve to slow down and accumulate a triangle four-levels plateau. Since the geography is similar to the hometown of Chiang Kai-Shan, Fenghua, Zhejiang County, so it named. The tribe Atayal is the main citizen there. They worship on Hongu Utox with the special culture – facial tattooing.
It was an opportunity to experience the living style of Atayal and their organic dishes – joined the trip. We met at MRT ZhongXiao Fuxing Station Exit No.3 at 8:00 a.m. I was so surprised that all 20 people could be there on time. Therefore, our bus start drove toward Fushin, Taoyuan. In order to meet another bus drove from Taoyuan to arrive on the same schedule, our bus stopped by the Jiaoban Mountain Park. The summer hot weather lead us the desire to try the special sorbet in Peach flavor. Until now I still can’t resist for another cup.
The enthusiastic host had their very special way to welcome us. We had our Atayal name special for the day which was also very interested way to learned a new language. The hostess led us a circle to sing and dance in Aatyal music. Taught us to made bamboo rice, bamboo bowl and chopsticks. Finally, at the lunch time, we had everything ready for us to eat. (Of course, we didn’t cook the dishes; the host had their chiefs prepared us their organic food and fruit.) You wouldn’t be able image how great the food tested.
The activities came after the lunch was archery. The host showed us their way to made sweets - Mochi, to pound rice into really sticky and ground peanut. Later afternoon we learned to make mouse trap. These were activities for city people rarely have chance to touch. However, they were so interested and contained a lot of fun to take turns and play.
After such a hardworking day, the host family said good-bye to us by singing. We felt visited a wonderland and was about time to go back the reality. We would like to look forward to another day if we can go to visit host again.
